Mercan Dede

I discovered Mercan Dede many years ago, before I'd even heard of electronic music or anything, and I have loved his music ever since. The album Seyahatname is his best, and its overall perfect.

Anyone know any other music kind of like this? He does sort of a really well done mix of turkish folk music and electronics. Another album kind of like that is the Tuvan group Huun Huur Tu's "Altai Sayan Tandy-Uula" (its like the mongolian throat singing and stuff)

Allot of artists do that kind of fakey world fusion, and it turns out complete shit, made by snobby rich wannabe hippy world travelers. This is nothing like that. This mixture really works...the album is an excellent addition to a classy modern world music library.
