Guest hellomynameis
Ok, so I want to go midi. Basicly equipment line up is: Korg Poly 800 Roland JX3P Roland TR 505 Roland FP4 Ableton On ableton you can use a midi arpeggiator, is it actually possible to set that up on a track and then send all the midi data to a synth that has midi in? Would this work if I transposed it before hand? Also what type of midi box or whatnot would i need to connect the poly 800, jx3p and tr505 to the computer so they have seperate channels? Or am I asking tooooo much? lol i'm a bit of a noob with midi Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/32183-a-question-about-midi/ Share on other sites
Guest mrx
I've been using the midisport 2X4 midi interface for the past couple of years and haven't had any problems. Seeing as you want to use ableton to control 3 different synths, you'll probably want to look into a midi interface that has at least 3 midi outs. You then set each synth to receive on a separate midi channel. The JX3P receives on any midi channel that comes to it unfortunately. However, there is a way to make it receive on only one midi channel: Quote To disable omni mode, connect the MIDI out to the MIDI in and play at least six notes on the keyboard. This will place the unit into omni-off/poly mode, however the JX-3P will still only receive on MIDI channel 1. Guest hellomynameis
Ah cool, cheers. Well I was thinking of using ableton to control the two synths and then the tr 505 to go into the laptop. The FP4 has usb midi which is fine by me Would a controller keyboard be useful as well? As I was just wondering If I should go ahead and buy one sooner rather than later EDIT: The jx3p has a midi thru port Edited March 21, 2008 by hellomynameis Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/32183-a-question-about-midi/#findComment-686661 Share on other sites
SCONES TO DIE FOR
You should be able to use either the Poly-800 or Jx3p as a controller. Edit: Or the FP4.
