Guest margaret thatcher
right, i've had this vaio laptop for a few months or so now, and i can't seem to work out how to record "what you hear". it's got vista on it, and in xp i know you could go on the recording volumes thingy and tick the stereo thingy box so that you could record what you hear in something like acid pro. you know what i mean? cos basically all my live synth shit has to be recorded like that. anyway, i can't find a way round this, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated! cheers! Erm... maybe try using an ASIO soundcard driver like ASIO4ALL..? Do you know what soundcard/soundchip is in it..? (This program will tell you exactly wtf is inside your laptop, right down to the make of the nuts and bolts... well nearly). mcbpete
Yeah I've had a similar problem when I upgraded to my Echo Audiofire, for recording non music apps (like ripping the audio from internet streams etc.) I use Total Recorder, and from music software I use the free VST Voxengo recorder: http://www.voxengo.com/product/recorder/ Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily. Guest Dubreak
Cool, I'll have to try that one from Voxengo. Reason into Protools ASIO stream seems fooked. I remember I used to be able to record into cubase sx with the same card I have now. Ya kinda fix these things ever few years, then it stops working again... but you've forgotten how you fixed it years ago. I must have fixed this problem at least 5 times already, but I can't remember how... pants btw, what was so wrong with that Wagon Wheel that turned you off them..? Or do they even stock them anymore..? I've not eaten one in years. Maybe they stopped making them years ago, but you still ate one perhaps five years out of date.... hrmm, yeah, that would put me off them too. Guest margaret thatcher
cheers pete! very much appreciated! i spent all afternoon looking at forums trying to find a way round it, but no one's found a decent driver...basically sony asked realtek (who makes my soundcard) to switch off the "stereo mix" record function in vista. what a crock of shite. so there's pages and pages of complaints and no solutions. so thanks! i'm downloading the total recorder thingy now, cos that sounds most like what i need. :) Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/32478-sony-vaio-audio-recording-problem/#findComment-693971 Share on other sites

Nah man, the Wagon Wheel is ace I just (for no apparent reason) never seem to buy them so when I eat the glory biscuit its such a momentous occasion that I note it down here. Other things I love to eat but never buy: Chewits, Chocolate Hobnob biscuits, Cheesy Wotsits, Poptarts, Chocolate Teacakes, Jaffa Cakes and Bourbons. kaini
i work for vaio tech support no workaround at present. it has to do with the driver and vista. i actually dealt with an email support case to do with this and i felt really bad for the guy. you might be able to downgrade your unit to XP though, depending on the model check vaio-link Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide kaini's signature Hide all signatures On 5/7/2013 at 11:06 PM, ambermonk said: I know IDM can be extreme On 6/3/2017 at 11:50 PM, ladalaika said: this sounds like an airplane landing on a minefield Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/32478-sony-vaio-audio-recording-problem/#findComment-696353 Share on other sites
Guest margaret thatcher
cheers kaini! much appreciated! i'd rather not have to install xp....i'll just wait and see if someone issues a patch for it. if it's been disabled, then surely it can be enabled....?
