New BOC Album Announcement Soon!

I'd been told to keep quiet about this for awhile now until the album had finished the mastering and the artwork stages, and finally, I've been told I can mention a few tidbits. BoC will make an official announcement via their site April 25th, and expect WARP to start making mention of it shortly as well.

Exclusive to WATMM, here's some factoids about the new album:

28 track double CD (seems like there are more short interludes on this one), gatefold digipak

75% is entirely new music created post-Campfire Headphase, the rest is older tracks and ideas worked up to the brother's high standards.

There will be exclusive Bleep.com tracks available to those who preorder the album and those who purchase the digital version. No word on if these are remixes or original tracks.

There will be a 'deluxe' version, vinyl only, limited to 1060 copies (you see what they did there?), which will contain 'neat stuff' (all I was told, details to come)

The album will be released in the second half of the year, 'before the leaves turn colours' (could this be the title of the album?)

The first track off the album is called 'Isolated Receiver' and will be a single release as well before the album's release. It's supposedly "their best track they feel they've done yet"(!)

The other big bit of news is that this is not the only Boards release this year - but nothing to announce at the moment.

Well, come on - if I wanted to do a proper April Fools (like what's been done in the past), I would have an album cover, album name, tracklisting, etc. - they want to save that info for their announcement, but at least they provided this tidbit to us!

Dang, I wonder what the 'neat stuff' is ? I'm gonna pre-order this one for sure, but do I go mental and get both the CD one AND the ltd Vinyl for the neat stuff..... :undecided:

What a lame April Fools' joke. The lack of fake album art and tracklisting just shows the laziness that went into it. A good one would have been for someone to whip up a dummy "BoC set" with all the old unreleased album covers printed out and slid into CD cases, preferably digipak to make it seem more authentic. The other problem with this announcement is the claim that "such and such a track is the best thing we've ever done". Their general attitude is just to put material out there with no pretense.

I don't blame Joyrex though, I can't imagine the frustration he deals with all the hoaxes and stupid questions he must get regarding BoC on these forums. I love BoC like nothing else but some of the fans are terrible and what's funny is they will fall for anything.

Joyrex, keep in mind that you've just made a very big dangerous move by posting this as 200% legit information.

If this in fact turns out to be a lame joke after all then your internet credibility will sink even deeper than the Titanic.

You know for sure that BOC are larger than life for a lot of people here and this is just as sad and it can really ruin a day for a lot of people.

Shameless coming from the moderator himself and taking the joke even further with "I know... bad timing for sure, but trust me on this!"

Its just a tasteless joke.

This ruined my day and all my respect for joyrex.

This is good though. I like BOC. I will probably order the special edition.

But yea, if this is an April Fool's, I say we start a coup and banish Joyrex to That Other Site™ for a month where he can sit and think about what he did and the people he hurt.

I think most people here would agree that there's bigtime BoC hoax burnout, it's not amusing anymore. Between the burnt tape found on the beach after the Red Moon party, the Alpha Taxonomy box set, it never ends. I don't think people want their hopes dashed anymore even if's April Fools. If it's some sort of ironic gesture and an actual real announcement, something more substantial should be posted given the date.

who knows? I will stay positive with the fact that whether this is real or not, there is still an album in the making that won't disappoint us.
