my girlfriend doesn't understand me part II

i was sitting with her last night showing her how i make music. i think she was amazed by all the bright colors, blinking lines, sliders and such...

she listened to this and said that she really likes the way it sounds, but doesn't understand the context. "where would i listen to this kind of song", she asked.

i gave her a smirk.

same sort of track as the other one i posted. let me know what you think of this one. definitely not at all trying to sound "band-ish"...

something about the drums doesn't sit right with me

maybe they are mixed a bit loud but i think it's the kit

this was a good track though; i liked the glisses and lead (if that makes any sense)

hi all... this is basically a complete rewrite of the track i posted above.

I only listened to the rewrite and it's really over compressed.

All the synthetic sounds you used together with the over compression were pretty unpleasant to my ears.

I liked the rhythm.

thanks for the listen. i hear what you're saying... i threw a generic mastering plug on the master and haven't quite tweaked it at all. i agree with what you're saying, the dynamics are squashed and it all sounds flat. i've been playing around with it a bit and i can definitely give it more definition... i think the track has some good potential... i'll post an update soon.

definitely wanna get rid of that mastering plugin. i dunno what to say really, seems aimless and i cant stand the drums. i think maybe if you took alot simpler approach you could make some stuff your gf might enjoy.

like i said in your other thread, i went through just about the same thing with an ex, where i wanted to make something that she would appreciate and i ended up doing alot of just fake rock type shit like this :

i've uploaded a copy now without the mastering plug, but i did end up putting limiters on some channels that were overdriving to keep it from majoring clipping... still needs a lot of work in that regard.

in terms of it being aimless... well, i think thats right too... i'm not sure if that's a negative?
