music video making

Ive decided i wana have a go at making my own music video to one of my songs, anyone know any decent video making software? i want to add like glitches and effects in the video aswell in time to the song. The only programme i know is windows movie maker :p could i do stuff in that ? I basically want a programme similar to ableton live, as in you can see the video file there, and chop it up how you want and add effects.....

sony vegas is pretty straightforward and has effects.

if you want to do effects it depends if you want to use a normal program like adobe premiere or final cut or something more experimental like a vj software
