modey
just bought myself an alesis dm5 today. it's great! i need to get a mesh trigger for the snare though, i can't do rolls very easily with a rubber pad, heheh. but i have managed to make a sufficiently realistic sounding preset for it, except for the hihats but that doesn't matter because i hardly use hihats when drumming anyway. i haven't hooked it up to my pc or a sampler yet, it would be interesting making breakbeat mashup stuff with one heheh. i did put the '909' kit through distortion today and rock some gabba on it though! so let's discuss electronic drum kits here! i will definitely be using my new one in most, if not all of my future recordings, instead of sequenced beats. Guest analogue wings
I wanna get one of the ones that will teach you to drum as well as triggering shit. Do the Alesis ones do that? modey
i don't think there are any drum kit style ones that teach you, though i know the roland handsonic does - however that's probably not the best way to learn heheh. maybe just get some practice pads for the moment? i'm definitely not a great drummer but i've been around drum kits for a while so i'm competent at least. Guest epsy
I use mesh heads with red shot triggers hooked up to a roland tmc-6 (trigger/midi converter) and have it fed into fxpansion's BFD of waldorf attack instead of using a brain.
