Cat Jumping On My Gear

my cat is constantly jumping on my MPC, walking on my laptop, sitting on my turntables. i pick him up and take him off, but he will jump his ass back on in mere moments. i know im not the only dude with a cat here, anyone have any tricks?

I find that cats will be drawn to the area of greatest comfort. I just keep a soft warm bunch of bedding in the studio and inevitably the cat will decide that taking a nap in a cushy pile of bedding is way better than exploring my gear.

here's a tip: close the fookin' door. it aint rocket science boyo !

Cat will sit on anything that has your attention that is not cat. Try playing a board game on the floor some time.

Squirt it with water every time it gets on your shit. They'll learn not to do it anymore.

I forgot to mention, my parrot is the same way. When I'm on the PC, and I go to type something, he goes right on the keyboard. It's more cute than it is frustrating though.

My pet Zebra is constantly chewing on the knobs of my Roland.

If you're not familiar with the technique of "aiming" then yes. It probably wouldn't be a good idea.

i forgot to mention i have a makeshift ass place, and my cat can squeezein thru a hole when i close the door. so this isnt an option. but thanks for the adivce...the bed sounds like thatd work...!

my friend had the same prob with his cat, out of his entire lush house, with an expensive scratching pole and cathouse i might add, the damn feline preferred perching atop his collection of out of print vinyl, and sharpening its claws by scratching the cardboard sleeves. i told him to slap that fucking thing but he's a pussy.

alright this needs empirical evidence. we NEED a picture of your cat squeezing through the hole on the other side of the wall

block up the hole? the wee cat in my flat is banned from my room entirely as she always does one of three things - heads straight for the back of the computer then starts chewing wires, heads straight for the records and has a claw sharpening session or heads straight for my plants and starts eating them. bad kitty! i could possibly cat-proof some stuff but not the plants really.
