Help!

I was meant to be submitting a new track for a netlabel compilation but I can't write anything anymore!!! So I have been working on an oldish track. No matter what I try it just doesn't sound quite right.....any production tips or suggestions would be very welcomed.

And yes, I know it's got an Amen in it. I have tried with other drums and that beat sounded the best imo..... :)

the amen cutups are at times brilliant, but for some reason the melodies never hit together for me to really strengthen everything, i like the end alot, its probably going the whole time and i just cant hear it over the amen on these shitty speakers.

btw the imo the beats are good but the melody needs to be lifted out a bit. Thats probably the only thing because you should probs change it into a more stabby synth imo just to lift it out but the sort of chimes are good.

Or just rewrite that initial melody, but that is the only thing I can suggest in my opinion if you wanted to change anything. But then again it probably is just fine the way it is

Doesn't sound too shabby to me. Amen cut ups are pretty sick ... certainly much better than anything I could do. Prolly agree with the others about taking the melody to the next level although personally the melody wasn't 100% my bag but certainly by no means bad.

EDIT: Am on listen number two and am getting quite comfy with this. Maybe add some chords or some pads, strings or maybe a silly fucked up vocal on top ... dunno?

Ok. Cheers for the suggestions. I have tried to louden the melody and quieten the drums and i have removed the Stereo Enhancers that were on every channel so hopefully that will make a difference. I just have trouble with the low end clipping with the high end, but it doesn't sound too bad now..... Hopefully! :)

i suggest you to melt the melodies with the beat, kind of, using the same notes but in diferent times, with the beat! cause, just like someone said, the melodie most of the time looks like it's just there playing, mess with it!!! do exactly the same drum patterns but with the melody notes!!! or NOT!!

I also agree with what someone had said earlier, the melody grows on you after the first few listens. Really nice work.

Cheers everyone. I use FLstudio, aka the dreaded 'Fruity Loops'!! Dun dun duuuuuuuuuun! But regardless what peoples opinions of the program are, I love it. Been using it for years and I think I'm half decent at it!? :D

Wow I would've never guessed you could do stuff like that on Fruity Loops. Last time I used FL was back in 2003 and I switched to Ableton Live real quick. I would've guessed with the way the amen break came out that you were using some sort of tracker

the latest one was a massive improvement, it only needed a few adjustments and more levelling and it sounds excellent

I've been using FL from about 2000 onwards so I should be fairly used to it now haha. Though I can't write ANYTHING new at all recently which is bugging me. I did an E.P. for a site which was mainly older stuff of mine which you can download if you fancy? www.themrecords.com an mine is called Acidburp - I love my Palindrome. :)

Downloaded your ep. Really good man and very enjoyable. Been listening to this a lot on my ipod. Track 2 is fuckin' sick ... seriously deep shit man and the rest are damn ace too. And to anyone reading this I really recommend this ep.
