Rubin Farr
i've been using Audacity to record my on-board soundchip for the last 3 years with no problem (mostly bc it's free). recently, i upgraded to a new M-Audio Audiophile 192 card. since installing and enabling it, i can see the level in the card's mix fader, and hear it through the monitor headphones, but no matter what options i try, Audcaity won't see it, and i fear i won't be able to record at all with this setup. i've tried every input and output option in Audacity, setting both to the new card, setting one or the other to MS Sound Mapper, no dice. as soon as i disable the new card and it goes back to the on-board chip everything is back to fine. it's very frustrating so any help would be greatly appreciated. Guest dildo
Audacity is opensource so it can't support (officially) ASIO wich is copyrighted. On the audacity wiki tells that the application is Asio capable, but you have to be able to compile from the sourcecode ASIO sdk.. if you can't do it,using M-Audio WDM drivers is the ony workaround imo. Rubin Farr
the specs state the unified M-Audio driver includes ASIO and WDM drivers, but there is nothing in the written materials, or website about how to disable one or the other. i found a written review from when the card was launched that states twice its driver supports WDM, but a lot of it is over my head. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar05/arti...diophile192.htm Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures Positive Metal Attitude Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/33769-recording-in-audacity/#findComment-720472 Share on other sites
Guest dildo
you just need to go to the audio control panel and set your M-Audio as system audiocard. you're using windows right? Rubin Farr
you mean Windows control panel or the sound card menu in Audacity? the sound card is already enabled in XP, as well as Audacity, like i said i tried all the combinations Audacity had for sound card selection. i'm using XP 32-bit with SP2. Guest dildo
yes,i mean the windows control panel. anyway if you're having problems even after the card is setted as system card, try uninstalling it all, search for a most recent driver. dunno how the M-Audio installation is,if it offer some kind of installation options. If you can,try to install only the WDM without the ASIO one..maybe it can work. Another thing you can try..is a fresh install of audacity (better if it's the last version) while the m-audio is the only audio system device installed.
