is this pc worth 800 quid, as im piling up pure synths together getting into this metropolis project, my pc is starting to crack under the strain, need an upgrade. here are the specs hes sent me.

Powercore PCI card (has 7 or 8 standard plugins including some really nice

reverbs, chorus, compression etc) (worth £200)

Price: If you want the Belinea 19' LCD then £850 or £800 without.

If you need a sound card I can throw in an M-Audio Audiophile for £20 (the

motherboard has onboard sound, but as always its not that great for

pro-audio applications)

Have a look at some of those links & see what you think. Its a quality

machine - I spent ages researching the best parts for audio work. Just

checked the overclocking using Intel's TAT (thermal analysis tool) & itsd

running at 2.8gHz at a cpu temp of 44 degrees centigrade. It peaks at about

55 degrees if you run it at 100% cpu useage for about 20 minutes.

just as a tip for now

you might want to render some parts and bring them back in as audio, if you don't already do that. also don't use vst effects on vst instruments, only on audio. sorry if this is useless information DRUNK>

not sure about that...

that's a hefty chunk of change to accelerate built-in effects?

i would think you comp would already handle most effects on the fly, unless you're really concerned with latency.. i don't know

you may want this thread moved to EKT, you'll probably just get buried under poop threads in GB. whereas in EKT people will be looking for these sort of threads

its not that, i need all 20 odd midi staves open and ready to slam notes in on the midi stave at once, after about 15 it really slows right down.

I like to go with the method of using effects on instruments but to mute the effects when bouncing to audio, then bring the same effects back in on the audio channel. Best of both worlds.

considering that it come with a powercore+virus VST,the price is quite good.

you should try to have that m-audio for free..anyway i suggest you to get a solid audio card.
