Guest kid hideous
it's not dubstep. it's tech noir :D it is drums and melody based instead of being all about the bassline and there is no dub influence at all i made the track at 140 and then spent another 5 hours trying to make it not sound like dubstep (i did steal the blatant dubstep drumloop from a dubstep sample pack but that's only about 3 seconds right in the middle) have i misunderstood dubstep? I don't like it as a 'genre' because it is all 8 bar loops and has no beginning or end. this is melody based and has a definite beginning and end :? Edited May 16, 2008 by kid hideous Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/34171-breakbeaty-track-feedback-appreciated/#findComment-729758 Share on other sites
beneboi
when i think of dubstep i dont really think of 8 bar loops, i think of the kind of drums and bass that are in your song. I don't know shit about genre names and genres (as you can tell from my music -oh, I better post some more...) I haven't listened to the track yet, about to... but you guys crack me up! I love "genre wars" ... 'course I'm one of those guys who calls it all music, I don't go any finer than things like: Classical, Jazz, Rock, Electronic Music (yeah, all of it from the university laboratory to the gay disco), etc... But I'm looking forward to the dubstep dispute! I said I don't do genres. Overall, it's just a bit boring, I'd say,... nothing to hook me in. I'm looking for cool sounds, intricate programming, groove, mystery, and magic. Didn't hear any of that. Guest tht! tne
i agree with Toy Sun i didn't enjoy this tune i was expecting it to kick ass 'cos you said it was breakbeaty i didn't find much breakbeaty about it, wouldn't call it dubstep though Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/34171-breakbeaty-track-feedback-appreciated/#findComment-730405 Share on other sites
Guest pawwa
Yeah it has some of that dubstep bass. : ) I like it, it`s ok, but I think that bass and those melodies do not match. Keep up. Guest kid hideous
i don't know if i like it either :D i was trying to make a 'grown up' tune cos most of my stuff is cartoony . i spent ages trying to get those sounds to suit the melody, but i spose in the end i haven't got it down yet.... to be honest i agree with toy sun. the biggest problem for me with the tune is that the main chord sequence is kind of depressing, i was trying to think of a better word, but couldnt'.... re: the whole genre debate, i don't go for it either. it is helpful tho. i said it was breakbeaty because of the tempo, but i spose it doesn't really sound like much breakbeat music.....hmmmm Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/34171-breakbeaty-track-feedback-appreciated/#findComment-731530 Share on other sites
Guest hellomynameis
whats the tempo? erichodge
i don't really like the "noise" part of the beginning.... but otherwise like the way it builds. i think you nailed the wobble bass sound... sounds good, and the underlying beats work well... definitely a dubstep FEEL (without starting any debate).... i want this thing to sound cleaner and bigger.... i like the track a lot but i don't feel like its jumping out of my speakers like it could. maybe some more work on mixing/mastering? nice work. cheers, eric Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide erichodge's signature Hide all signatures -------- http://www.innerfuze.com Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/34171-breakbeaty-track-feedback-appreciated/#findComment-733399 Share on other sites
