capture midi signals into vst host

I have some programs that I use to compose melodies but they do not support vst plugins. they just play midi notes directly from the soundbanks of my soundcard. Is there a way to capture these midi notes they play and have them played by certain vst instruments in real time?

you cant extract the midi files from said programs?

there must be a way to say ok "midi piano" in the program is being send to vst instrument 1, midi bagpipe playing is vst instruments 2 and so on

something like total recorder but for midi and with real time midi send

would be best if it was something that sends them directly to a sequencer to have the ability to record the incoming melodies

I'm kinda curious what these external programs are that you use to create melodies.

None the less have you given midi yoke /midi ox a shot yet?
