I'd be lying if I said I didn't like that song... but I can't help but feel they're jumping on the freak folk bandwagon... I mean, it sounds almost exacly like Fools by Dodos, and quite a bit like the more upbeat songs from Sung Tongs by Animal Collective.

And there's nothing wrong with sounding a bit like other bands it's just that they never used to, but now that bands like AC and Dodos are getting all the acclaim, they suddenly completely change their sound to fit in with that...

But I dunno.. I don't wanna be too cynical about it cos I'm sure I'll like the album anyway :P

Cool, Sigur Rós is nice. Although I'm afraid it'll look like I have a voyeur fetish when I get this at the record store.

I was actually disappointed by this release. I agree that they needed to evolve a bit but this new album isn't doing it for me

I think this album starts off AWESOME, and gradually gets worse and worse as it goes along, like they wrote it in the order of the tracklisting and just got more lazy and bored as they went along.

But the first few songs are really freakin awesome!

i haven't gotten through it yet. i really love gobbledigoook, but after that it goes back into more traditional sigur ros territory. only major development over their previous stuff being... a growing fondness for pounding 4/4 beats? i dunno. i guess it's nice enough.

I hear you, from the opening single you'd get the impression they are taking a whole new direction, and there is some variation, but Goobligook is more an exception that the rule.

Man this record made me realize Sigur Ros are really cheesy.

well... I still really like Ágætis byrjun, ( ) and Takk.

this new album is just.. not really all that new. the second half just fades into this slow stripped back album, reminding me of the acoustic disc on Hvarf-Heim. (and again, gobbledigook barely represents any of this, being the only interesting/new song).

I enjoyed this album, even though as most of you already said the 2nd half of the album isn't as good as the 1st.

All alright is their weakest track, imo.

has anyone else noticed how much better mastered this album is than takk? that album had no dynamic range at all really, which doesn't represent the sound of the band.

the band has yet to even come close to aegetys burgun or whathaveyou.

heartily agreed. the first 4 songs are amazing. like my heart got a boner of joy that combusted into flame. after that it goes downhill.

more uptempo songs with hooks plz

I don't know, it isn't as awe-inspiring as Takk for me on the first listen I think. The intro of Takk is amazing and I love how the second track, Glosoli, builds towards that awesome end etc etc.
