Joyrex
Midify allows you to add a MIDI port to the Nintendo DS, thus making your DS a MIDI controller: http://www.hackaday.com/2008/06/22/midify-now-available/ This, along with the KORG DS-10, is starting to make the DS a neat little portable music station (those who dismiss the DS-10 need to watch and listen to this little video to see what can be done and made with it...): http://gamevideos.com/video/id/19545 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures Follow WATMM on Twitter: @WATMMOfficial Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/35315-midify-port-now-available/ Share on other sites

I don't see him pressing a button to activate the voice samples, might just be overdubbed afterwards. My first PC ran "math-heavy musicware" pretty well, early versions of Fruity Loops, Making Waves (anybody remember that?), Cool Edit, Cubase VST3.5. This was a Gateway PII 233Mhz (with "MMX technology"!) machine with about 160 megs of ram (maybe 128? 160 sounds wrong), originally bought in 1997. The second time I saw Autechre live was in 1998, and it was the first show where I saw them using laptops (just around the time LP5 came out), I'd say they CPU in those weren't much faster than 400Mhz. People are so obsessed nowadays with having big numbers on their CPU and multiple cores. You've got more than enough power in a DS to run music software. Kids nowadays, I tells ya. *reaches for walking stick* Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/35315-midify-port-now-available/#findComment-917848 Share on other sites
Berk
It's pretty cool that the Nintendo DS is becoming somewhat a worthy music station, but in the end it's still the same as clicking and twiddling every knob with your mouse, am I wrong? Ah yes, it can be used as an XY controller as well, but that's about it no? Not really using the touch screen is more akin to a Lumur than using a mouse there's also the Kaoss type modulation control and X/Y arpeggiator that give a lot of expressive control. I've a feeling the DS10 will become a cult thing in years to come, hats off to Korg! beneboi
yea, im a huge ds fan and all that, but the sound it outputs fucking sucks, it's tinny and quiet and theres no getting around it. using it as a midi controller can be fun though, i guess.
