kaini
this is absolutely fucking brilliant so far. epic. Quote *80 MINUTE CD FEATURING 6 OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TECHNO TRACKS EVER MADE - IN THEIR FULL VERSIONS - NEVER PREVIOUSLY AVAILABLE ON CD*. When Basic Channel's first cd compilation was released some years back it offered people a digital glimpse at their beguiling catalogue - made up of track excerpts and exclusive versions/edits that offered a valuable counterpart to their vinyl predecessors. But for many years people have been unable to get hold of the Basic Channel 12" material on CD - something that at long last is rectified with the release of this utterly essential cd collection. Although there are only 6 tracks here Enforcement, Phylyps Trak, Inversion, Octagon, Octaedre and Phylyps Trak II/III (in total representing about a fifth of the original Vinyl tracks) - the cd clocks in at 80 minutes and each track is an epic in its own right - the shortest track being 10 minutes long, with 'Inversion' clocking in at just under 18 minutes. The material itself has long since slipped into music folklore - but listening to these tracks again places some considerable emphasis on the fact that while so many of Basic Channel's contemporaries in Berlin, Detroit Chicago and Montreal produced material that has clearly started to show its age, Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald managed to piece together a catalogue (and that goes for ALL of their productions across all of their various labels) that just hasn't aged, and continues to bewilder and exert its influence almost 15 years on. If you're new to this material - prepare yourself for one of the most valuable electronic music resources and techno blueprints you'll ever have the pleasure of hearing. An utterly essential purchase. track list 01. Enforcement 13:13 02. Phylyps Trak 9:57 03. Inversion 17:45 04. Octagon 12:58 05. Octaedre 13:09 06.
