YEK
i want one and actually probably 2, to be routed through my smaller mixer for use in sampling my instruments and playfully adding effects is the first version good enough? it's the cheapest and probably all i need. another question is: does the first kaoss pad show on the pad where the x y axis is with light? ? i thought it did but i have to ask.... would it be better to get two micro kaoss pads or whatever they are called... thanks alot Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YEK's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents !:/music Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/35551-korg-kaoss-pad-thread/ Share on other sites

Solo Strike
On this topic, I was looking at the mini Kaoss Pad, as it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the KP3. How does it compare? Is a lot of functionality lost? Obviously you don't get the super cool lights, but it still looks pretty nifty for the money. zazen
the kp3 has the best onboard sampler, and that was one of my favorite bits. the kp2 has a sampler I think, but can hold fewer samples the mini does not have a sampler at all, as far as I remember Also the kp2 and mini do not have the LEDs under the touchpad for alternatives (eg nintendo DS) see http://forum.watmm.com/index.php?showtopic=29471 Edited July 1, 2008 by zazen Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/35551-korg-kaoss-pad-thread/#findComment-764831 Share on other sites

Guest Laughable Butane Bob
I suggest you find someone who has a Kaoss Pad, and play around with it for a few hours. I found the KP3's effects limited, lackluster, and the whole experience kinda gimmicky. I wanted to like it, but I couldn't have fun using it. I'd really only want it for the touch surface, and have it control other external effects or software patches via CC. I also couldn't imagine ever needing 2 of the things. Try and look for alternatives before you spend your money. Also, I'd never buy 2 identical effects units. One always collects dust. Solo Strike
Got a KP3 now. The sampler is great for my Ableton sets - after setting the BPM it's great fun to capture samples of a track I'm playing, then switch between the track from the computer and the 4 different samples. If I'm nimble enough it's easy to almost remix a track like this, alongside using the onboard effects.. this is my favourite part by far! Squee
I really like my KP3 when playing gigs. I bought the Mini KP a couple of weeks ago and I regret it. There you have it.
