Berk
Couldn't this be possible with some sort of script or software? It would be very handy I reckon. I think I'm going to buy a Nintendo DS and download KaosDS anyway, but the idea just crossed my mind. Guest Wall Bird
I believe Super Collider allows for this control, but I do not know if it interfaces with other programs. Guest Helper ET
a little off topic, but berk seems good to go now im looking for an XY controller vst that you can use with effects. i want to be able to assign X to one effect parameter and Y to another. then i want to just use my mouse to move it around. ....does that make any sense? Something like that would be very nice as well, you can achieve lots of interesting things this way I think. And thanks for the info guys, my laptop hasn't arrived yet, but I will look into this stuff as soon as I get it (well, as soon as I get rid of the bloated standard vista install by toshiba and install vista x64) Edited August 1, 2008 by Berk Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Berk's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/36371-using-laptop-pad-as-xy-controller/#findComment-784820 Share on other sites

You gotta have a synaptics touchpad though, but I believe almost every decent laptop basically has this. At first it didn't work, but then I downloaded the drivers from the Synaptics site, it works flawlessly now, it's really fun. (don't forget to turn on CAPS Lock if you want to use it as XY controller) You gotta have a virtual MIDI setup, something like MIDI Yoke of course, though. I'll go play around with it some more now, thanks, it's perfect! You can even have several 'pattern banks', for instance, when you press the left pad button and hold it you can use the touchpad for additional parameters. I think what you are aiming for is even possible with the XY Controller effect in fruity loops, you can rightclick almost every knob from other effects and whatnot and select 'Link to controller..'. To control the parameters you have to click in that virtual pad thingy all the time though, and it's no VST, so this could as well not be what you're aiming for.
