Importing audio in to Reason 4.0?

Recommended Posts

Hey I've noticed quite a few of you on here talk about Reason a bit and I have been using it for a year now and want to use some recorded audio on some of my tracks? Two questions is Midi the only audio type you can import and if so is there any free software that can convert Mp3 files to Midi files?

1. convert your mp3 to WAV

2. create an NN-XT Sampler

3. expand the remote editor panel beneath the NN-XT

4. press 'load sample' button

5. Choose your WAV

the sampler will now play your WAV, if you send a C4 note to it (or any other note for that matter)

import midi is under 'file' and yea, convert to .wav but dont use the nn19, use the redrum, or if its a loop, get recycle and cut it up then use it in a dr rex

yeah, MIDI is only information about the placement of notes... it can't really be "converted" to audio, but you can get a program to "play" it like you would sheet music.

I used the NN sampler trick for years, but it gets tiresome that you can only hear the audio if you trigger it from the beginning, so I've been using Live and Reason together.
