Brass samples

or any means to achieve brass-sounding melodies without spending any money

felt like trying to mimic the sound of oldschool ska and mixing it with some jungle, and to do that i need some beefy horns and trombones

can anyone help out?

i particulary like those really cheesy brass sounds that old synths have.

You should look into Vienna or EWQLSO. I know that they've both brass collections.

i thought that. sampling some old reggae should be fine, hardly any of the stuff i have currently has any decent horn breakdowns, and the tracks that do sound awful when sampled. (i haven't been using the whole sample, just bits to make my own melody with. maybe i shouldn't bother and just steal the whole thing).
