Guest maantecaaa!!!
Hi everybody, I have a paid for/registered copy of Ableton. Which free software apps work well with it? I'm thinking soft synths, drum machines, etc... I have either version 3 or 4 so i'm not sure if vst instruments work with it. Any advice would be appreciated. Amen Warrior
The stuff you get with ableton 7 is really good, there's not a lot of need for a huge amount of vst's. I really like the Analog for example, probably my fave software synth. acid1
maantecaaa!!! said: acid1 said: You should upgrade to 7 For why? I'm open to the possibility.. Basically what amen warrior said.. With the base unit of 7 you have more then enough to accomplish anything percussive based. Between impulse, warp markers, simpler, drum racks, beat repeat, and the generative synthesis options it really is quite endless. Also 7 features an upgraded audio engine and improves cpu stability significantly. Analog costs extra (less if you buy it when you upgrade) and runs at extremely low cpu since it was built by Albeton, that in mind, there are a lot of upgradable options in the future if you want cpu friendly additions... such as sampler which can achieve complex wave table dsp like reaktor or operator which is a top notch fm synth. Otherwise... for the same price you can get Surge (http://vemberaudio.se/surge.php) which is made by one of the same guys who wrote analog and Surge is just as cpu friendly yet almost twice as powerful as something like massive, including all the complex routing options and waveshaping capabilities. Guest Jimbob
Quote Analog costs extra (less if you buy it when you upgrade) and runs at extremely low cpu since it was built by Albeton, I take it Analogue is far superior to Operator then? I've been meaning to upgrade for a while now so when i get round to it Analogue will most certainly be on the shopping list. Guest maantecaaa!!!
So i'm leaning towards buying v. 7 after reading about the different bundles. If you were me, which package would YOU buy. The full bundle looks pretty decent but how good are those extras(Instrument Pack, Drum Session, etc)? Check it out man... http://www.ableton.com/free-trial Full version for 14 days, they do this every now and then... you can see for yourself what is worth it or not. If you want to unlock it they just send you a serial, no need to download anything else. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I personally think only analog and sampler are worth it to me. I'd prolly like operator if I understood FM better.
