Guest hahathhat
i got a nice workhorse sampler that does what i need (mpc1000). but, when jamming, often i find myself saying: "i wish i could just take what's playing and loop it, so i could keep that noise while making new ones" so, in short, a little live phrase sampler. wouldn't need much memory, can't see me ever doing a loop more than a minute or so... but multiple, overlapping loops would be nice. would also be nice if it took midi (+sync) in, but i'm fine just pushing a button. don't care about fx, except for maybe reverse, or crazy time shift fx. i heard of the gibson echoplex ages ago, but that's probably too deluxe for what i need. does the kaoss pad do this stuff? don't really want to spend big on this, don't need massive features. do want something that's good live, do want to fill in what i feel is a hole in my setup Thanks! Guest Jimbob
Not necessarily doing everything you're after, but the Akai Headrush does a pretty decent job with the only flaw of not having external sync (stompbox). there's also a digital tape echo with 5 jack outputs for each tape head which is a pretty nice touch, i imagine they wouldn't be too expensive on Ebay Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/37011-phrase-sampler/#findComment-801088 Share on other sites
Guest hahathhat
yeah, this looks fun, thanks!! stompbox is fine, my hands are very busy, about time i got my feet involved... still welcoming other suggestions too. Guest hahathhat
hmmmm, how about the kaoss pad? i don't need another sampler, but i alwalys love more fx, and for $100 more than the headrush i'd go for it, if it's any good - in a non-novelty sense. and seems older ones are even cheaper in cases on the other hand... individual outputs for the heads... my brain spins with cool ideas... modey
boss loopstation. they come in three sizes - one pedal, two pedals and seven pedals. ranging from $300-$1100. maybe cheaper on ebay. you can store multiple loops on them, reverse, tap tempo, etc. i think the seven pedal version has midi (and usb too). i use the dual pedal version with my guitar, the looping is seamless.
