we need to push up the standards.. learn from the top, realize your own skill and don't reassure yourself you are better than you are. take others opinions and see if they are right with practise. don't be afraid to copy and then twist and turn for your own desires. sampling isn't a sin. being experimental is what made this forum happen. don't feel you need to comply to certain standards. don't be afraid to ask for critiques. download midi's/pre-made songs and deconstruct to learn. no instrument/sounds is out of the question. listen to your favourite song, deconstruct, keep asking questions why you like it so much. download random songs from different genres you thought you would hate before. invest in your enthusiasm, not invest for enthusiasm. repeat to yourself "there are no boundaries".

I agree with joshier, 99% of YLC is complete garbage.

i agree that most YLC tunes are boring. but there are a few quality ones that come up sometimes which makes this subforum worth checking imo

a lot of what i post are not so much songs as sound i regarded as interesting

that's probably why a lot of people freak on me

i find that i like most everything by a few producers here

like beneboi or Braintree, but the other music is worth hearing too

even a track that i consider poor can be influential in some way
