THe origins of th Gescom logo

i was looking at the wikipedia page for more info on the origins of the name gescom= gestalt + communications

but i found something pretty amazing watching 2001 a space odyssey ...

at the beginning of the movie when the crew arrives at the lunar base, there is an over the shoulders view of the space pilots in the spaceship and just in front of them are those computer screens with symbols and random letters and numbers....and if you pay more attention to the screen next to the pilot on the left there are geometrical figures forming the letter G and right after that, the three letters appear : COM

maybe a coincidence but the G really looks a lot like a gescom logo

every time i see their logo i think about GESCOM

The GESCOM logo is just a font, and yes, it's probably been used long before GESCOM was even founded.

bumping this because a division of the company I work for has a logo that is disturbingly similar to the Gescom logo.. does anyone know who designed it? Before I go accusing people at this company of plagiarism I'd like to know if it's just a common shape/stock logo or something..

I have the same with the Recycling logo (green dot) in Germany...

Maybe it's just an internal thing, because I've only seen it on one small poster on the pinup board and a page on the intranet site.. so probably not a big deal, but still!
