Guest hahathhat
last night, i dreamed about a elektron monomachine and a nord micromodular. seriously!! i don't remember much of it, but i remember my dad coming up to me with those two (and some other machine i failed to examine closely) and saying - hey here, a friend of mine said you could have these. i shat a brick, held up the monomachine, and was like -- do you know how much these things cost? i was giddy. ...do i need help? shouldn't i be dreaming about beaches 'n' babes or something? Guest esquimaw
I've had dreams about music gear before.. but not often real stuff. Last dream I had like that that I can remember.. It was sort of a cross between an MPC, a Lemur and Renoise. In a kind of MPC size box. Herbie Hancock (why?) was showing me his dope beats on it. Actually a cross between MPC, Lemur and Ronoise would probably be the sickest piece of hardware ever on earth. Hmm. Guest hahathhat
yeah, i've had plenty of dreams about gear that doesn't exist too... or sometimes it's a real piece of gear, just different from the real version... i had a dream about a GX-1 that wasn't a GX-1 at all, but it was big and fantastic with all sorts of weird raised dials. i got a good jam going, got so into it i broke a knob off... was like, shit, this isn't mine... split the scene. IT WAS LIKE THAT WHEN I GOT HERE Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/37241-gear-dreams/#findComment-807783 Share on other sites
Guest Drahken
I had a weird dream a couple years ago where I was building some strange contraption with Venetian Snares out of leftover church organ parts and brass tubes. When we finally turned it on it shot rotten cabbage and dead pigeons out the ends and made a mess. I understand the organ pieces and dead pigeons, as I'd just visited an abandoned church from the early 1900's that was full of dead pigeons that week, but I still don't know where snares fit into the picture... Guest mrx
I've had dreams about jamming on midi controllers like haken continuum and tonal plexus, which is probably gayer than having dreams about synthesizers and drum machines. Guest esquimaw
I've had dreams about programming Logic. From blank arrange page to full tune. This is not right. Quote like most people, my dreams tend to borrow from stuff i've seen, recently... and recently, i've been using cubase a lot. i used it this morning. i was editing a block of audio, taking segments and overdubbing them on another two tracks. i recall i playing it back as i tried edits out, pitch shifting some stuff, and moving audio around. the funny thing is, this was inside my head. i was lying in bed, in some weird hypnagogic state. i wasn't totally asleep, because i remember getting hot and pulling the blanket down. i wasn't totally awake, either. eventually i snapped out of it, was all... what the hell was that, and in that little lapse i'd forgotten what i was working on, aside from the shape of the blocks on my three tracks of audio. i probably should have saved my file. i was not chemically enhanced, just half asleep. anyone had anything like this happen before? any way to do it on cue and get practical use out of it? http://forum.watmm.com/index.php?showtopic=29721 i am a strange motherfucker, but that's the only way i'd have it. Amen Warrior
Haha, i had a dream the other day that some sikh fella sold me his 303 at the roadside for £200. I was ecstatic. But then i got home and took a closer look at it, it turned out to be something called a t690 (which doesn't exist) and it was basically a rubbish wanky groovebox. NOOO. What a nightmare. enki
I always have dreams about finding weird gear in thrift shops. Once I dreamt that I found this ancient Akai sampler that looked just like an S1000 but was the size of a pizza oven and had this mad tangle of wires coming out the back of it like some kind of telephone exchange.. I was trying to work out how to get it home. Another time I dreamt about a shop selling two MC202s that were listed as "not working" for $40, but I somehow knew they were working just fine and could barely stop myself from telling the shop owner what they were really worth. Again, the 202s were slightly oversized and I think they were even "breathing" slightly, kinda like when the VHS starts melthing in Videodrome.. Oh, and they constantly emitted these warped, raspy acid lines even when they weren't hooked up to any speakers. The only decent gear I've ever scored from thrift shops IRL (apart from Atari STs and Commodores and such) have been an Ensoniq Mirage that I couldn't find the disks for and a sweet Maestro phaser that was going for $2. That little thing is a champ. SCONES TO DIE FOR
I had a realistic dream that I found a TB-303 in a thrift store. It was all taken apart. Then I woke up. That being said, I have had purchases in real life that felt like dreams, i.e. a mint Moog MG-1 for under $20. Guest hahathhat
well, honestly, now i'm wondering if i should scout out for monomachines/micromodulars...
