Maybe the fact that 'Aphex Twin' has almost become a synonym with 'techno', 'ambient', 'electronica' along with all the other clichés which have turned him into a stereotype. If I was Aphex I wouldn't blame him for ditching the name and reinventing himself, hence his other pseudonyms.

EDIT: And, what was the reason for releasing Analord 10 as Aphex Twin and all the others as AFX? I think I remember reading a reason, I know 10 came out before all of them and also supplied the binder to keep the rest of the series in.
