Guest AOOproductions
lately i've been listening to AFX early club friendly material like Polynomial-C, Digeridoo, .215061, and other bangers off Classics. This period is crazy, its obviously not abstract like his later stuff, but when compared to other alt-dance tracks of time, it's not hard to see why more people consider his early days more innovative. Of course the whole time he was putting these out, he was also busy making some of the most blissful ambient music ever known to man... And thru all his musical periods or styles every song still manages to be be pure Aphex in every way imaginable. It's crazy how diverse this guy was. Dale
I too have been checking out a lot of early Aphex just recently, especially AB3 and 5. Track 2 off AB5 has probably one of the my favourite melodies that Richard has produced. It sort of has that trademark sound, which you know is him, very lush. Tend to find that nearer Autumn/Winter I listen to a lot of the older tracks around 92-95. manmower
I have to concur on the AB3 love. That's the kind of shit that will still make a crowd go crazy even if you play it in a local pub. It's probably some weird idiosyncrasy but I love the sound of a quality vacuum cleaner (Nilfisk ftw). AB5 track 1 is RDJ beating the OG Detroit greats at their own game. But I feel his early tracks are actually quite club friendly(even some SAW tracks), well at least compared to anything after ICBYD ofcourse. I think if you put digeridoo on now, in any club, any part of the world, it will still tear the fucken place up. I mean ofcourse, it's not normal dance music, but people can dance still to it. same goes for Polynomial-c. If that ever came on at a club, I would orgasm everywhere.
