You could probably count the number of major electronic artists around in 1985 on one hand but that doesn't mean he was listening to any of it anyway.

I guess he was a bored kid in the Cornish countryside tinkering with a BBC micro and taking tape machines apart.

Silly question anyway, but haven't you heard any disco or dub from the 70s? Or in fact any 80s synth music? Most rubbish synth pop had absolutely massive reverbs all over the linndrum snares or whatever
