Those prizes are fucking wank, where's the PS3 and 50" Bravia?

and to think I thought it was a contest to remix the Airwolf TV theme?

haha me too!

yeah i dont know if you're going to get very many bites around these parts with the prizes you re offering.

Well it's the first proper contest and it's not like it's a mainstream artist. I don't want to state the obvious but theres £500 worth of samples up for grabs and we're all prodcuers right? :)

All of the prizes are music related and this is a global contest. I wouldn't fancy shipping a PS3 to a far corner of the world :)

Also take in to consideration that you wouldprobably have a better chance of winning this as opposed to highly funded contest with widescreen TVs and the like.

i don't use samples, apart from multisampled acoustic drum kits and pianos which i already have.

also, "touch the core of the beat" sounds pretty homoerotic.

is this part of that acidplanet site? i always thought that was such a load of BS, a giant lemming circlejerk. some artist "allows" acidplanet to run a remix contest in order to promote a song on their new album. a bunch of lemmings muck around with it in order to promote themselves. sony gives shitty loops away as a prize in order to sell more shitty loops.

Ok, so we have £100 left on the budget for prizes?

I want to know your ideas.

So far we are thinking production headphones or a Sure Sm58 microphone. What do you think?

Please don't say Xbox 360 :)

yes, sm58. sad as it is, acidplanet punters can pirate loops and software, consequently making it much less attractive as a prize. bet you breakfast that the best prize would be a nice hardware controller, i.e. novation remote, etc. essentially, something that can be used to control a wide variety of (perhaps pirated) software, and something you can't download.

as to why this thread has probably been a difficult one for you: the sort of music discussed around here rarely involves "loops". a lot of nerdy live electronica done by even nerdier guys on elektron monomachines, mpc1000s, and 808s. the idea of using a sampled "loop" made by some nameless producer somewhere is a creative anathema to us! the attitude is, we want every detail our way, custom, and the idea of letting someone else do the loop for you is just odious..... and if not, we can pirate teh loopz, sample them off acidplanet remixes, etc

That makes sense to me and explains a fair bit. If any of you do enter this then in the email to submit the entry can you say you are from the forum as I will be even more keen to listen.
