that justice distortion sound

Recommended Posts

i've been listening to a lot of Justice lately...i love the distorted basslines that seem to drive all of their songs. it's a great sound very solid and crisp. i've been trying to recreate it in Reason with little luck.

it sounds like a combination of digital distortion and some hard compression, but i'm not getting anywhere close. anybody ever created something similar?

from what i've read they run a lot of their synths straight through guitar amps, although i'm sure it's cleaned up in the computer later.

might be a little obvious, but it helps if you start with a really resonant bass sound to begin with...boost up the cutoff as well. that'll make it so you don't have to add as much distortion to the sound, which will maintain the bassiness of it while still giving you that driving, guitar distortion effect.
