i like very much so far, like many people he's gravitated to slower (i hesitate to call them dubstep) beats. could do with more bass science but a good and interesting mix

it's a semi-hipster term used to describe some of modern electronic music's obsession with bass. next.

dj/rupture is great, his mixes are a nice diversion from the frantic, superficial, girl talk-esque mash-up stuff that's all the rage these days.

can't tell if i'll like the album as much as gold teeth thief though...and i'll agree that the dubstep classification is a stretch.

im a little confused on a differences between the two versions,

so one of them is mixed /seamless and the other one is just straight tracks? If this is the case are all the tracks produced by Rupture? If not why is he putting a name on a compilation(non mix) of other peoples tracks? is it like a dj rupture presents type of thing?

well, the version i have is mixed, and it's definitely not all rupture tracks.

he has a real fondness for clouds and shackleton and people kinda operating on the fringes of dubstep, stuff i really like as well.

the breakdown from bassy stuff into abstract violin pieces and tape collage etc about a third of the way into the mix is immense.

as regards 'putting his name on it', this one is definitely much more of a straight-up mix than say gold-teeth thief, which was collagey in itself.

hmmm.

In a recent Fact interview, Rupture conceded Uproot would be a sleeper: "I did the crazy dynamic three-deck thing in the past, so… I wanted to make more of a field of sound for you to sink into." Using dubstep as a guiding principle, he weaves older tracks and live recordings into exclusives (often from his own Soot label), emphasizing cold space and deep bass. Rupture's eclecticism isn't defined by sonic opposites on his tracklist, but his ability—and willingness—to reconcile them. Sure, mapping this all out would be fun. Just dropping the fact that Clouds, who offer two of this mix's best tracks, are DIY dubstep from Finland goes a long way in proving the reach of contemporary music.

also, fuck girl talk. he can fuck the fuck off.
