anyone have any idea what he might be using to make the percussion in some of the tracks?

especially the effects on girl/boy & yellow calx, does he like make some beats, then freestyle live with the delay/resonators/filters etc on certain samples or what?

some of you people must know how he does some of it?

yeah that's the basic idea, programming and effects /audio manipulation. but how he does it so masterfully? can't teach those kind of mad skills. it's the DON man

are you trying to personally recreate aphex twins catalogue? you seem to be asking this sort of question a lot.

maybe he does like 20 takes on say girl/boyf reestyling with the effects, cuts em all up taking out the best parts and putting it all together??

or maybe he has seperate channels for each percussion, freestyles with the kick, snare, hi hat all seperately then puts it together? cutting out the proper mad paarts so it doesnt sound like a mess all jammed on top of each other.

I don't know if it was originally made with digital hardware, but most of that can be done with simple samplers and a properly placed gating on all the hits. Gating properly is very important I'd say. Either way, most of the other stuff would simply be dynamic distortion and compression, tweaked when climaxes come etc.

Either way I know of one bit of software that (apparently) he used for cutting up samples and so on, but I don't know if it's true and either way it'd be better to jump into the wild with whatever you've got... =)

Oh and never forget that you can simply sequence delay. Makes it much easier to control than actually using a delay plugin or effect/pedal...

Man, I rated +1. Knowing how every sound was done on a track just remove a halo of mystery which is essential to really enjoy this track.

i had an idea of a technique i thought i heard when listening to an afx song and that was realtime eq tweaking... i haven't yet tried it in a track of my own though
