ableton 7 velocity problem

hi, long-time lurker here!

i'm fairly new ableton live and was wondering whether anyone on here could help me out? the problem is; when i change the velocity of various notes nothing happens, it just keeps playing back at a certain level even when the a note is all the way down to 1.

has anyone had this problem or know how i would go about fixing it?

You need to fuck about with the velocity settings on whatever youre using. If it's Operator the velocity controls are on the bottom right of the black control panelly bit in the middle, when you select any one of the 4 oscillators. I can't remember if theres also a global control.

With analog i cant remember exactly but i think its in the amp tab.

yeah i think it must be some global control or something because it's doesn't respond to third party plugs like NI's massive and battery; aswell as the ableton synths.

I meant global control for operator, because you can change the velocity settings for each of its osc independently.

Have you tried changing the velocity settings of the actual softsynths like i said?!

i've never had this velocity problem before with my vsti's; it kind of changed over night. that's why think i must have pressed something that changed all the settings.

Certain VSTs will have variables for that like Amen Warrior has said. If you look at the synths controls and you see something that controls volume dynamically, you may even be able to create a custom filter that is controlled by the velocity. Many VSTs will have velocity control built in but not quite nearly on the surface.

Once you know what changes the velocity you can also control it via the automation, so you can control the actual volume level with automations. Then of course you can control it via the MIDI velocity, but of course having full control either way is always fun.
