Credit Crisis? What Credit Crisis......

Recommended Posts

Whilst browsing through Discogs to see what I could waste this months pay packet on, I came across this:-

http://www.discogs.com/sell/item/7866500

Way out of my league but my question to others is :-

a) What is the most expensive BoC item you've ever come across? and,

b) How much is too much, and for what?

Holy shit . . . that vinyl is over a grand US.

The most I ever paid for a BoC album was that storybook version of the Geogaddi cover art, $25.  All the other LPs I bought at about average price.

But a grand for a test pressing . . . wow.  It is mega-cool.  I'll be right back, I'm gonna go win the lotto.

How does someone go about getting their hands on that in the first place? Further more why would they then want to sell it?

My guess is the seller is a) An employee or friend of an employee of WARP, and b) Needs some money.

I'd imagine, of the 10 pressed, the band would probably want 1 each. That leaves 8 copies worldwide and from my recollection, this is the 2nd time i've seen one up for grabs in six years. I'm telling you, those 50-100 copies each of the pre Twoism material must be punishable by death if released to the public. Oh, and while i'm at it, the morons bidding on this:-

I didn't understand why he hasn't removed the signature either, it ruins everything... well, so does "Some Old Tunes" - I wonder what actually is on the disc.

"Some Old Tunes" indeed, there's the proof. "I'm going to pretend I kinda only sorta know a little about Boards of Canada to make this sound more legitimate..."

That was the intention, but it doesn't even make sense that way... if he had done research on the net, why out of all results would he have picked one of the few wrong titles he found/why would he not have copy-pasted the actual title or not have put any effort in getting it right since he doesn't know anything about it and is trying to give the fans information... :dizzy:

Somebody's come to their senses and closed the offending item. Cant see it being the seller as he was days away from making himself a few bob. Maybe the group themselves, or their inner circle got wind of it, and had it pulled. Shit, maybe it was genuine after all, i guess now we'll never know.

Or will we...........?

Join me again, same time next year for another meaningless topic regarding our favourite twiddlers of knobs.

He/She's either well clued up on what's worth having, or they're employed by warp/skam and are on the receiving end of job cuts and thought i'll have that...that...one of those...two of them etc.

After all, when was the last time Warp offered anything decent for sale? Indie record companies must tear their hair out when their biggest artist are reclusive perfectionists. Look at Creation and M.B.V. Five years and £250,000.00. Jesus, imagine if Warp gave BoC that much to produce an album.

Probably asked by the band not to sell it, or decided it was worth more.

umm, are you referring to the ebay auction there? and could you clarify a little more on what you meant? you kind made it sound like that cd was legit...

I'm talking about the Geogaddi blue vinyl - I thought it was pulled from sale..?

That CD was totally not legit - I think the thread topic splintered, hence the confusion.

I remember when this lenapiem guy won this blue test pressing on ebay... It was early 2006 I think. I was watching the thing and I distinctly remember that guy's name. A bunch of those expensive records lenapiem has came from that one seller (who was a former warp employee).

As I recall the auction for this blue test pressing got up around 250 GBP... Good luck getting even close to the amount he's asking... Par for the course for Discogs sellers though.

Its really weird - most of the tracks are either released on other records or are just not very good

why pay so much money just for the sake of collecting
