something awry with my 2496

when i scroll with my mouse wheel up and down it makes some kind of noise over top of the music that's playing

yeah, it's like a crackling

Sounds like a conflict with your soundcard PCI slot GFX and the UI's on your VST's.

Try running your display at 16bit colour when using audio programs also check your 2496 isn't sharing an IRQ number with something else.

set fire to everything you own.

it was sharing irq but that didn't fix it.

my new motherboard only has 2 pci slots. i took out my wireless ethernet card and it fixed th problem. fortunatley i have a usb wireless, it's disconnecting alot but at least i can use the soundcard....
