This is cool, what did you use for the NES sounds? I like the change up in the middle.

Really love the part at the end I think that's the best part. Its fookin hot.

Thanks for sharing.

love this track. i especially like the 2nd half. sounds like really crazy glitched out and kind of dubstep but not in a cheesy way.

you should come do a show with me sometime in oakland or SF, i think our music would go good together.

are you doing sidechain compression on this song or do you have the whole thing running through a master bus compressor? what kind did you use?

I just used some square waves for the three part harmonies, and made a couple patches in Native Instruments' FM8 for the other couple synths.

I'm totally down to play any shows in the bay area. I was running four different compressors through separate buses, and then a limiter on top of everything. I think I'll probably go back in and reduce some of the compression because it gets really intense at times.

  • 2 weeks later...

have u played metal gear solid 4?

theres an ipod item u can use to listen the old NES or whatever songs

uve got the nes sounds down proper

the offputting thing was the percussion cos some of it is glitchy electronic music like u said

the problem with that glitchy stuff is it doesnt match the nes style

the nes style is digital noise generator baby!!! aint seen any vst that can do this, gameboy style noise

only some bullshit one that copies some mario coin sounds

one of my synth can do digital noise i can do u a sweep if u want to use it to make percussion

to me, cos u used glitching percussion it like offering a full english breakfast then giving loads of croissants and french bread with it, it's ok but it doesn't match properly, so i say get some digital noise percussion and change the pitches and envelopes n shittt!!!

if youre gonna do nes, do it fully ;-D

saying that, i did enjoy, safe

Thanks for listening.

The thing about using only NES tones is that the sound palette gets incredibly worn out. After a while those sounds really start to grate on me and make me want to throw myself out a third story window. I love all of the nes music, but I want to expand on it and mix it in with other styles. Electronic music to me is a salad...or a buffet. I like both English muffins and croissants, so what's wrong with having both of them for breakfast?

Like a pixelated raccoon having an epileptic seizure in a snowy field. Love it.

I'M SORRY FOR BEING ME I CAN'T HELP THE WAY I AM
