azatoth
for some reason a new deadbeat release sneaked past my radar. released a couple of months ago on the wagon repair label. contains tasty dub(-techno,-step) featuring Paul St. Hilaire on some tracks. already ordered to satisfy my appetite for dubby stuff. check out some tracks from his egospace http://www.myspace.com/deadbeatcomputermusic Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide azatoth's signature Hide all signatures last.fm the biggest illusion is yourself Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/40699-deadbeat-roots-and-wire/ Share on other sites
Guest Hanratty
i dont follow Deadbeat too closely, but I have heard this album and was very impressed. my favorite track is "deep structure". something about this album i like, it has this nice thickness to the overall sound. I've been getting bored with so much "dub" techno being released, most of them are Deepchord followers if you ask me, but this stands out. o00o
he does not deliver anymore for me as he did in the past the album before was not what I expected so is this one nothing against progression of style but I just don't like the new stuff anymore also he does mix his stuff with mediocre techno beats on the eps ... Squee
Deadbeat has never been one of my favorite dub producers. Far from it. I liked New World Observer but sometimes I'd just wish he'd strip his tunes completely of his typical jungle-congas-beats and create some minimalistic ones instead. They just have so much happening in each track, unconventional sounds/sequences, but it all works together somehow. But dubtechno is mostly just straight repetitive. maybe it is unique in the sounds used, but the sequencing is usually pretty lacking for me. meaning that if you hear the first minute of a track you pretty much know what the next 8 minutes will be like. but this new Deadbeat is still pretty good, and feels like a cohesive album to me. I haven't bought a single "electronic music" album in 4 years now. It's all about dub now.
