It occurs to me that perhaps the true power of this track lies in the fact that nobody in their right mind hates mashed potatoes.

The very concept of disliking them is creepy and unnatural, so by asking "why do you hate mashed potatoes", RDJ has asked a question with no answer, leaving us feeling awkward, confused, and in the perfect mental state to absorb and appreciate the rest of Hangable.

because in infant school i wasnt alowed to go and run round the massive painted snail on the playground at lunch until i'd eaten every last bite of mashed potatoe, and it had the consistency of testicular cancer.

Man, I love HAB1 so much.. was really excited when it finally got released on CD a few years ago! My old roommate bought the vinyl when it came out.. 95 or 96, and we played the hell out of it. I had a cassette dub that I listened to all the time, until I lost it :(

Mashed potatoes are good - I like leaving the skins on by the way. This thread is as good a place as any to give props to my new favourite potato: the japanese yam

It's a bit like a sweet potato (what's called a "yam" in the US) but has much more subtle flavour. The white flesh is very fluffy and buttery. Delightful!
