Recommended Posts

The CS5 talked about in other posts was sold via Peter Forest pforrest@vemia.co.uk via Vemia

Peter also was selling a GX1 at one stage but it was withdrawn from auction as the seller changed his mind

a search shows

Yamaha Richard D James' CS5, inscribed 140 GBP Near good Uk 2006/03/18

Tip: If you want the ultimate Yamaha CS for the money look for a CS-50

I know Kevin sells to RDJ--eg Synton Syrinx

Kevin is another trustworthy seller I would buy from any-day

here is web address and contact details

PS Bottom line:- get a couple of good old analogs , an old sequencer eg Korg SQ10 for Korg/Yamaha , MC4 or CSQ-600 for Roland and that will get you a long way

The late 70's Yamaha and Roland synths are better built and sounding than the 1980's CEM and SSM based synths

"Modeless Factory" is the business. Less expensive than most of the other Japanese sellers and he usually performs a pretty extensive refurbishing process on the stuff he sells. Friendly chap, as well.

Wasn't the DX7 also used in SAWII or is that a different album (or maybe none at all)?

no that was brothers in arms

All early Aphex stuff is laden with Yamaha's DX line FM synthesis patches. Just listen to SAW 85-92 or Polygon/Caustic Window stuff.

Thats exactly what I thought but wasn't 100% about SAW2
