Help with Akai S2000

Greetings everyone.

Please forgive for posting this question here me but I don't know were should I get help regarding my S2000 sampler.

I just broke my LCD display. Damn metal chair right in the middle of the display. No image at all now.

Can someone tell me if it's possible to fix this? To replace the display?

I'm not ready to swap this sampler for anything else.

I don't recall ever seeing S2000 replacement LCDs for sale on ebay or the like. VST Service (Akai's authorized repair center in the US) doesn't seem to sell them, either. And even if they did, it'd likely be cheaper just to get another entire unit used from ebay (for example, screens for the older MPCs run $300).

Since the S2000 just has a simple two-line display, it might be an off-the-shelf part that you can source yourself. If you can open up the case and take a peek at the LCD board, you might spy a serial number or something to help you track down a replacement online. Good luck!

there are probably good e-mail lists to post this question too. analogue haven would be the place if this were a synth instead of a sampler -- someone there still might know.

try Numark in the UK - they distribute Akai and have always sorted me out with many spare parts back in the day.

If they can get it - they will.
