Silicon Studios doing some cool midi/hotkey apps for iPod/iPhone

Recommended Posts

some here think the interface of the iPod & iPhone is a gimmick, ala the DS but i think its possibilities are endless. these guys are doing some cool things with sending midi signals from the device to DAWs like: Ableton Live, Garageband, Logic Pro and Express, Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Cubase, Finale, Sibelius, Reason. compatibility varies by the app, as i think most are developed for OSX first, then ported to WIN but they're doing it pretty quickly. i'm especially looking forward to the iTM DJ and iTM Modular apps, as the Korg DS-10 could use a competitor in terms of touchscreen patching. their "package" pricing is a little gimmicky but at $6 a pop on iTunes, it's a little cheaper for anyone who intends to buy them all (why would you though) they also have a cool one called iDownload for sharing small files over wifi between iPhone/iPod devices.

Positive Metal Attitude

I been wondering myself if its possible to construct a kaos pad from an iphone. Seems like a relatively simple operation with Ableton, i'd just have to look and see what the complete feature set is on the kaos pad.
