Guest Laughable Butane Bob
A repeating 16 step-sequencer doesn't cut it if you want longer more dynamic content. The patch bay has the 3 waveform LFOs and the S&H. Routing those to the combined pitch and setting the range at an octave, or some other interval that sounds great, I have been able to get more than 4 beats out of a phrase. Obviously routing these CV outs to the filter can increase the length of a phrase. Cutting the tempo in half or by 4 is another way I have effectively lengthened the pattern in the sequencer. The tempo change gets a little constrictive in the drum sequencer phrasing, but I have been able to manage solid beats (especially since you are so free to create your drum patches). I've been getting a fuller deeper bass sound by adding the Delay effect with settings at 75% Dry/Wet, and 1-4% on the delay time (bpm off) with the feedback amount somewhat high. It gives a wonderful tone. Very rich harmonics, I wish I could filter it afterward on the DS10 itself. I'm in an electronic music duo. We play live shows normally with a x0xb0x + ESX1 + whatever else we can use, but we want to play live with these things as we both have one. Right now we are syncing up and running through my computer's Cubase SX3 multi-band compressor set at "Drum Set" and tuned further from there. We haven't hooked it up to a PA with proper subs yet to really see if it kicks, does anyone out there know if it can? I have been making some serious square wave bass drums I am dying to try out. Anyone else have one of these? My friend who is really into nanoloop was very impressed by it, called it a pocket machinedrum. I love mine. Guest Laughable Butane Bob
Do I see a rommed version syncing with the regular one? That would give me the ability to have more songs if I could keep them in storage in differently named roms on my computer and load them up when I need to. I need one of those homebrew things. I need one of those homebrew things. i've got the official cartridge and a rom version on an edge r4 card its the only way to share the .sav files with a couple of guys i know who also use the ds-10 and it means i can transfer tracks between my 2 ds's and backup my ds-10 tracks t't laptop too risky playing live and possibly losing one of my ds's got around 15 tracks made with the ds-10, would be a bummer to lose em there are 6 of the earlier ones on me myspace at the moment check em out here Edited January 17, 2009 by emef Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/41720-korg-ds-10/#findComment-925049 Share on other sites
Guest Glass Plate
it's ok, but I feel like stuff like NitroTracker are way cooler. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/41720-korg-ds-10/#findComment-925076 Share on other sites
modey
i haven't made anything with it yet, except for a little muckaround version of popcorn that i did to test the features. nice sounds, but a bit too limited to do anything interesting. plus i just got beatmaker for my ipodtouch and it's pretty freakin' awesome. I looked up some info on that little program. It looks rad, but does it include softsynths or anything? modey
i don't think so, i haven't played around with it much but i think it's pretty much designed to emulate an mpc or something. i guess that's the only drawback, samples only.
