Soldering 101?

HELP!

my Yamaha SHS-10 controller suddenly will not run on battery power! As it still runs fine on wall power, I know the issue must be in the connection of the batteries. probably I just jumped too hard and knocked a wire loose, easy fix - except I am a total novice when it comes to soldering and not much better with electronic innards in general.

Anyway any suggestions as to how to go about fixing this minor issue? obviously take it apart and look for loose bits, but any helpful hints or guidelines from veteran synth-surgeons?

it's a crime to keep it on a leash when the beauty of a keytar is its portability..

use solder braid to remove

always clean the shit of the end of the iron with a damp cloth or sponge

don't use too much solder at once, add it as you need it straight from the reel

always keep the iron on the connection for just a few seconds to let all the solder melt and watch it kinda sink into position hold for a couple of seconds to form the bond then remove the iron and don't let anything move for a couple of seconds as it cools down.

if it looks like a sunk shiny bubble of liquid you've got it right
