making music in a web page

Recommended Posts

while I'm travelling I'm quite often stuck in an internet cafe with a few hours to spare

Are there any web sites that provide a music making environment based in a web page?

(e.g. a tracker written in ajax/javascript or something?)

... so that I can experiment with music on any PC in any internet cafe without installing anything?

cheers

thanks for the suggestions

I already have a nintendo ds with nitrotracker. its a very impressive peice of homebrew, however I find it very hard to compose with it (its good for beats, but a bit tricky to compose melodies, for various reasons I wont get into here) .. and ... I'm already halfway around the world and I didn't bring it with me : )

likewise, I should have bought an eee-pc and installed Reason on it before I left home, but I didn't, and now its too late.

So its just web apps that I'm asking about.

Hobnox audiotool sounds like just what I'm after, I'll check it out once I have upgraded my flash version

edit: here's a Hobnox link in english instead of german:

http://www.hobnox.com/audiotool

OK, so I had a play with Hobnox Audio.

Its reminds me of early versions of ReBirth, if you remember that ... you have some 808s, 909s and 303s and you can string them together with effect boxes. You can fiddle with the machines as they are playing and record in real time. But there's no overall sequencer (yet) so you have to program all the patterns in on the machines, step by step.

For future versions they are planning a proper sequencer and automation, at which point it will be a bit more like Reason, albeit with fewer machines.

Still pretty cool though considering the whole thing is in flash, so I'll keep an eye on it ...

thanks man. that's the tonematrix, it generates simple sine waves

but you can also control the synths with it.
