I have both, I prefer the loops on the first model to the second - though I like the pitch control on the second one. I've fallen asleep many times to them before - the best was when I was half asleep and there were fantastic vocal sounds floating around the place mixing in with the piano loop on the buddha machine.

i might get one soon as well

I've got the second version, it's great. Totally fucking pointless but great. Might even get some more for the full ambient pointlessness experience.

just realised mine doesn't have a pitch control, so it must be the first version. Genius.

i've been meaning to get one for a while now, but keep putting it off... but i really want one now! i usually sleep with an ambient album playing on my pc, but it'd be nice to have something compact like this and so i wouldnt have to have my pc on all night. where's the best place to order one?

monolake toured with a bunch of buddha machines, there's a recording of one of his shows somewhere, it's really good.

I saw the "original" buddha machines when I was in China, maybe should've bought one.

Chanting monks with some bells make a bit more interesting source material then those loops.

Yeah, that were a bit of a shitter weren't it ? Although I ended up making almost the entire of Small Mercies (well tracks 2,4 and 5 of it) as a result of those twiddlings....
