does anyone happen to remember this band? the core of the group consisted of paul damour (ex tool) and chris pittman (now with guns and roses). they released only one album in the late 90s called "free mars", and ill be damned if it isnt pretty good. draws a heavy influence from bowie and eno but it has its own thing going. i remember the video for "backworlds" got some airplay on mtv by winning the "12 angry viewers" show...

just remembered this group the other day so ive been giving their album some play. its pretty obscure so i guess the chances of anyone recognizing/remembering them are a bit slim...

its a good album, ive been listening to it all day. as ive said before, it takes a cue from eno but it doesnt copy, it really has its own sensibility... i cant stop listening to the track "undergarden"..

  • 2 months later...

been listening to this a bit on my ipod walking to work. 'gold' and the title track are probably my favourite tracks so far. sounds to me like a cross between engineers and ben folds, heh.

nice stuff! i love the fretless bass work and swirly sounds.
