Guest jim
I need a laptop running osx but can't afford it. Is this a viable option? What are the risks/ limitations etc? http://www.espressoreport.com/83/dell-insp...k-pro-tutorial/ Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/42758-hackbook/ Share on other sites

Guest jim
logic and that audiosculpt program i mentioned in the fft thread. Max/msp too although i know it also runs on windows. Starting my masters in composition in september and they only use (and therefore teach) osx software. Otherwise i'd be content with cubase. Guest coiski
i think it's not a reliable option from a mid-term perspective. i wouldn't want to seriously work audio stuff on a semi-pro educational level on a underpowered 500$ laptop with a hacked os on it...just my personal 2cc. because its never 100%percent stable. supose you even want to run a cracked logic on it.. and those versions have never proven stable to me, when it comes to more complex stuff. i think even the price/benefit ratio is lower comparing osxified consumer laptops with osxified desktop pcs.. so theres smaller gap to the entry-level macbook. which is pretty capable of running logic... anyway you can chose hardware from larger list, and are not restricted to dell..especially when it comes to laptops. some lenovos seems to work equally well.it's only a question of compatibility and availability of driver support. check http://www.osx86project.org/ for details.
