lol my production partner and i watched this and laughed and laughed

i mean he seems like a solid guy, but i was so shocked at so much

edit: i dont want to sound like jerks. i LOVE when people make tracks from a shit studo. i dont want to sound smug. but i dunno.... the idea of having a 'masterclass' when the studio technique is sample CDs + Cubase SX = song is lol

native cubase reverb? all the sounds are just that fucking ancient roland 2520 (orwhatever) box?

it made me want to create another video showing how you can make dance music thats groovy but also complex and "cutting edge" tho i hate that term. i'm not saying 'do more with less' isn't great or EL=B isnt talented, but why not create new sounds AND make people dance?

eheh eh. burial names el-b as one of his major influences ...

"B: I discovered EL-B and garage at the same time. I heard his Brandy remix, then “Buck n Bury” and “Passage of time” - and I hadn’t even heard “Stone Cold” yet, though I’d heard of Groove Chronicles on something else I didn’t like. Then I heard “Stone Cold” and I was just like “fuck…”

M: The name says it all.

B: It's dark. That tune’s never left my head. That tune is still going around my head from the first time I heard it. And the thing about those drums: they’re still the future. It’s not a lost art – people still don’t know how to do those drums. It’s an unknown thing. It’s like the last fucking secret left in music: how you do those drums. I’ve tried. I’ve locked myself away and tried. And the thing about garage is: the more you look at it like some tech-boy producer, the less you get it."

haha.

"I think this in the one that came with it. I'm not too technical minded."

So you're saying that the idea of making music in a simple studio is laughable?

While I don't particularly like the music he's making, his productions do sound very crisp and polished, well made two step bass stuff that would sound great on a club sound system. Could you do better?

el-b is god. and what he does is as a matter of fact definitely much more than looping some crappy sample-cds in cubase. can you do better? no.

listen to his stuff.. ze dude is a sampling-artist. really got great feeling for combinations. his techniques he is showing off only a bit, even show that he got deep understanding of real dub production stuff. you're all wannabes.
