A lot of these will probably be kinda hard to find, but I'm pretty sure you can Festen, Reconstruction, Idioterne, Dancer in the Dark, and Open Hearts, so you should go for those. Haven't watched Open Hearts yet as I'm not a big fan of Susanne Bier, but everyone seems to love it.

EDIT: My friend just more or less recommended me "Inside" (À l'intérieur). He says it's the most fucked up thing he has ever watched and that it's worse than Irréversible and I really wanna watch it but no one seems to have it on sale?

wikipedia is my favorite source for movies - find a director or style you're interested in and do a little research.

so far all the movies mentioned are great. (haven't seen several of Squee's, but idioterne and festen are good. flickering lights is ok. i'd add dogville to that list.)

i been watching ingmar bergman movies lately.

I have to continue some more Danish film recommendations, mainly the films of Carl th. Dreyer...as he's Denmark's greatest filmmaker. ;)
