Help with MIDI

Greetings,

I need some help here on Midi.

The gear used is:

- Farfisa Keyboard (Midi In, Midi Out, Midi Thru)

- Alesis SR-16 (Midi In, Midi Out/Thru)

- Yamaha RM1x (Midi In, Midi Out)

- Roland MS-1 (Midi In, Midi Out)

This is what I want to do:

Use the Farfisa keyboard as my main midi controller, BUT I also want to use the Alesis SR-16 pads to controll the Yamaha RM1X sequencer.

Then I want Audio Out from the RM1X onboard sound generator, Audio out from the Alesis SR-16 drum machine and Audio Out from the Roland MS-1.

Basicly I want Audio Out from all the machines (except from the Farfisa keyboard) and I also want to be able to enter data on the sequencer from the Keyboard AND the Drum machine pads, but also receiving Midi Data on the Drum machine. Do I make sense?

Any help would be great

Best regards

Get a laptop and a MIDI interface (4in/4out). Can be the cheapest fucking laptop for just MIDI. But hmm, then you could just drop the sequencer anyway because you can do that on a laptop :P

Hmmmm or get something like a MIDI matrix router thing. Basically you want all MIDI outs and ins plugged into the same device and then route it to wherever you want want. We've recently got this one http://www.motu.com/products/midi/mtpav_usb/ but that's overkill. You could get a cheaper version of that for under a 100 euros probably.

I've been trying to think of a solution but I don't see any with the MIDI thru's unless you get split MIDI cables which i don't know if they exist..

It'd suck either way with all the channel interference probably and shitty to remember. I recommend a routing system, either software of hardware.

I don't think you can send midi note data from the SR16 to your RM1x - you could probably use the pads to trigger internal sequences on it, but not to actually play any notes.
